Camel Power Malaysia announces its first manufacturing plant in South East Asia

Camel Power Malaysia was established in 2017 as a local company that manufactures and distributes a full range of automotive batteries for cars, trucks, buses and agricultural equipment in Malaysia.

Camel Power Malaysia is also the first Camel Power manufacturing plant in South East Asia currently being built in Kuantan, Pahang, which is also slated to be the largest automobile battery manufacturing plant in Malaysia.

Estimated to be fully operational in June 2019, the manufacturing plant will also serve the South East Asian, Australia and New Zealand automotive industry.

Liu Changlai, Chief Executive Officer of Camel Group Co. Ltd said “We are proud to be the largest automobile battery manufacturer to be built here in Malaysia.  With the manufacturing plant, we are looking at an estimated production of 5 million batteries annually. In addition to that, we are expecting to provide 600 employment opportunities for the east coast region once operations fully commence in June 2019,”

“Camel Power is also currently in discussions with local automobile manufacturers and assembly plants to create strategic collaborations which will support localisation plans in the near future. As we continue to focus on sustainable growth locally, Camel Power is looking at investing a total of USD150 million.” he added.

Camel Power aims to work closely on the domestic car plan, bringing the latest environmental protection technology and batteries into Malaysia whilst promoting the development of the automotive industry.

During the launch, Proton Malaysia presented Camel Power with a Letter of Acceptance as an appointed vendor to supply Camel Power batteries for the new Proton X70 and future models.

The launch was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and was graced by Liu Changlai the Chief Executive Officer of Camel Group Co. Ltd; Shao Pei Jian, General Manager of Camel Group Hong Kong Investment Trading Co. Ltd;  Harvey Jiang, General Manager of Camel Power Trading Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Jerry Xue, General Manager Camel Power Malaysia Sdn Bhd; Haji Hamizan Bin Osman, Senior Director, Group Technical Procurement of Proton Malaysia as well as Zahirul Ishak, Director of Transportation Technology Division, and Steven Cheng Seng Hock, Deputy Director of Foreign Investment Promotion Division from Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

Camel Power batteries have a unique structural design and process manufacturing for longer life. Camel Power battery is designed according to the polarity requirements of the OEM customer standard and adheres to the standard, ensuring the battery works well with the whole vehicle and resulting in better matching and higher work efficiency.
